World record: Nicolas Iten pumps 78 km in 5 hours 3 minutes

Just as the June newsletter was about to go out, news came in that Nicolas Iten had beaten his own long-distance pump foil record with a mind-blowing 78 km, 5 hour and 3 minute effort. As if that was not impressive enough, he did the last 45 km with a piece of tree stuck on his front wing.
Nicolas was riding a production Fireball 1750 on an UHM 80 mast with a Psychoshort 520 mm fuselage and the new Skinny 250/20 stabiliser, the pump rear wing developed alongside him. For his next attempt he is planning to use the FATTY system and to go over 100 km.
First reported in the AXIS newsletter of 10 June 2026.
