June 2026: three new rears, and a season of records

Launching today: three new rear wings, alongside the Kaiwi mast seen in action in the 2025 Hawaiian race series. All available now for immediate order and shipping. And spring delivered plenty to get excited about, from new gear to record-setting achievements; the feats are below the products.

Skinny 250/20

A dedicated pump-foil stabiliser designed for minimal drag and pump efficiency. Developed alongside our long-distance pump record holder and the pump team, it further reduces the effort needed to stay high on the foil, essential for long-distance runs. Not recommended for wing, kite or parawing. Skinny 250/20.

Surf Skinny 340/50

The Surf Skinny range opened the door to predictable roll performance while minimising yaw and adding no energy-sapping drag: reduced span compared with the Skinny, and notably more downturn and hook in the tips, for yaw control that lets you fade, adjust and redirect with precision. This larger size expands the range to riders looking for more pitch stability, especially heavier riders and those earlier on their foil journey who need control as well as performance. Essential to unlocking the Surge, and a strong upgrade to every other foil in the range when turning matters as much as glide. Surf Skinny 340/50.

Skinny Link 300/22.5

Not for 99% of the population. This addition to the Skinny Link range is designed for high-speed runs under the feet of riders of the highest level. With its reduced span and minimal chord (aspect ratio 15.33) it performs at the very top of the speed range that only the best riders and the Tempo can deliver. Reach those speeds and the foil feels comfortable and in control; fall short of its speed window and you will feel uncomfortable and not in control. Designed exclusively for downwind racing; not suitable for prone, wing or other foil sports. Skinny Link 300/22.5.

Interesting fact

The Ti Link titanium fuselage is unlike anything else in foiling. Precision-machined from solid titanium, each fuselage takes 13½ hours of CNC machining, so little more than one piece is finished per day. The result is exceptionally strong, remarkably refined and unmistakably AXIS.

Rider news: podiums and world records

Tahiti Foil Festival, SFT Tour stop. Against a tropical backdrop, the event featured downwind SUP, pump, prone and wake foil. AXIS riders claimed the top spots on both the prone and downwind podiums and a bronze in pump foil. Downwind: 1st Kai Thompson, 2nd Raiarii Fadier. Prone: 1st Toaura Haumani, 2nd Haunui Haumani. Pump: 3rd Kai Thompson. Next stop, Munich, 12 to 14 June, where 16-year-old Marnie Bertram competes in women's pump foil, looking to improve on her second place in the 2026 tour standings.

Outright world speed record. On 26 May at Akuna Bay, NSW, Matt Davies set a new world record for outright foil speed, pending ratification: 81.4 km/h behind a jetski, no Foil Drive, on an AXIS Prone 26 with straps, a Tempo 890, Ti Link fuselage, Skinny Link 360/25 and a 75 cm Ultra Pro mast, beating his own 79.1 km/h. "Once everything came together it was obvious there was more in it," he said. The long-term goal is 90 km/h; the ski was already at full throttle, so the next attempt needs a faster one.

Surf foil pump record. On 2 May at Boulder Bay, New Zealand, in the heartland of AXIS R&D, Liam Walton broke the surf pump foil world record with 4 hours 7 minutes on foil, riding the swell in and pumping back out without coming down, on a stock 4'5" 32-litre surf board, Fireball 1250, Crazyshort 600 mm Advance+ fuselage, Skinny 35 and Ultra Pro 80. A four-hour run covers almost a full tidal cycle; his light offshore turned onshore after two hours. With better preparation and fuelling (everything has to be carried, no support allowed) he thinks six hours is possible.

Hold the press. Just as we were about to send, news came in that Nicolas Iten had beaten his own long-distance pump foil record: 78 km in 5 hours 3 minutes, the last 45 km with a piece of tree stuck on his front wing. He rode a production Fireball 1750 on an UHM 80 mast, Psychoshort 520 mm fuselage and the new Skinny 250/20. Next attempt: the FATTY system, and over 100 km.
