PNG V2 1300: new school pumping weapon
dock start downwind png v2 pump wing
The original PNG 1300, introduced in 2020, was a groundbreaking foil: a 1300 mm span at an aspect ratio of 9.94, a wing not only large in area but remarkably efficient and fast, way ahead of its time and hugely popular in the seasons since.
The advent of downwind foiling made the PNG 1300 the go-to wing for beginners entering that challenging world. Its exceptionally low stall speed enables early take-off, while its glide, acceleration and controlled speed let riders connect bumps and keep momentum in weak to moderate swell and wind. Its intuitive pumping makes it easy to recover from mistakes even before you have learnt to find the perfect line.
When developing the PNG 1300 v2 we were determined not to compromise any of that. We have enhanced every detail and added a few more you would not imagine possible on a wing this size.
New school pumping weapon
The completely reimagined PNG 1300 v2 now runs on our Black fuselage series (we recommend the latest Black Advance+ range). It boasts low stall speeds, lower drag, better acceleration, better turning and a significantly higher top-end speed, thanks to its finely tuned high-camber, low-drag foil section. Surface area is reduced (1632 cm² against the original's 1712 cm²), but with the new section it achieves the same early lift.
Vastly improved turning and a balanced lift distribution give a smooth, stable, comfortable ride with predictable pitch control that makes navigating between bumps and pumping a breeze. That stability is crucial for light-wind or novice downwinders, with a more agile, manoeuvrable experience than the original. We have also extended its glide range: you will be amazed how much further you can glide between pumps without losing speed or height.
All of which makes the PNG 1300 v2 an amazing addition for dock starters of all levels, especially those who have found that the bigger, slower wings are just not much fun anymore. Use it for SUP and prone in smaller, lower-energy surf, where the lift it creates to get you moving and keep you up on micro-waves is astounding. And it transforms what is possible in the lightest winds while winging: you will be flying before others and enjoying ultra-light-wind winging again.
