Liam Walton wins the Tawhiti Rahi Ocean Challenge paddlefoil race, AXIS takes the top five

On 19 September Liam Walton won the paddlefoil race at the 2026 Tawhiti Rahi Ocean Challenge at Tutukaka in Northland, New Zealand, in 1 hour 1 minute 37 seconds. That was the fastest time of the day across all 43 racers, ocean skis and waka ama included, and AXIS riders filled the first five places in the paddlefoil.
The race runs downwind across open ocean between the Poor Knights Islands and Tutukaka, and this year a whale joined the start.
