Kai Thompson took third at the 2026 Paddle Imua, the 12 km Maliko Gulch to Kanaha run that opens Maui race week. "Paddle Imua race starts can be extremely intense; nailing it is crucial for such a short race. Conditions delivered, it was pedal to the metal the whole way." It was his second podium of the Hawaiian season after second at the Voyager-Wetfeet challenge, on the way to second overall in the Koa Kai Triple Crown.
