Kai Thompson third at the Molokai 2 Oahu 2025

Kai Thompson crossed the line third in the 2025 Molokai 2 Oahu, the 32-mile Ka'iwi Channel crossing that is the unofficial world championship of downwind foiling, in his first season riding AXIS, going sub two hours at 1:58 and cutting 23 minutes from the year before. In his words:
"For the races, I was manifesting a top-three finish in M2O and believed top five was possible. Once we started, it hit me that this dream could actually happen. I stayed calm, rested well, ate right and trusted my training. Crossing the finish line in third place was surreal, a moment of pure satisfaction! The best memory of the trip was all of us together at the M2O finish line, smiling in our black-and-gold AXIS shirts."
Kai came to AXIS through Gabriella Bella, who lent him her gear for two weeks before his own arrived. "When she let me try the Tempo, I thought, yeah, this is the right move!"
