Frank Mako: downwind SUP foiling at its best

Downwind SUP foiling at its best. Designed on Maui by Francesco Maffei of Frank Foilboards, the MAKO is the result of extensive testing on countless Maliko runs and many design iterations and refinements, with one goal: the most user-friendly, highest-performance downwind SUP on the market.
What sets it apart
A revolutionary rocker line designed to increase board speed and release effortlessly from the water for extremely smooth take-offs. The combination of the rocker and the rail design makes the board extremely stable, which allows a reduced width, the key to displacement speed. The bottom is designed to accelerate through the water for take-off while staying forgiving on high-speed touchdowns; and because the board travels faster through the water, the foil engages sooner and helps you balance.
The extra rocker at the back keeps the tail from catching on the surface while on foil, and stops the board tracking too aggressively in a straight line and upsetting your balance. The flat deck gives comfort and direct feel on long runs and a wide area to move the feet around to suit your stance. Volume is concentrated around the middle for an extremely balanced feel paddling and on foil, while low volume in the nose and tail cuts swing weight, so the boards feel much shorter than they are.
Full carbon construction with a high-density foam sandwich under the pad is critical to the stiffness: every bit of energy you put into the board goes to the foil. Every Mako ships with a custom-fitted bag with a dual zipper for access from either side, built-in ventilation and stow pockets.
